5 Ways to Restore Your Used Knives

Your knives work hard but they don’t have to look that way. Try these steps to restore your favorite knives so they look as good as they perform.

1. Sharpen the blade

Depending on the type of blade, you may be able to sharpen it yourself. A knife store will able to offer advice and sharpening tools you need.

2. Polish the Handle

Years of use have taken their on their toll on the once handsome handle. Polishing it will greatly improve the overall look of your knife. What process and products you use will depend on the handle material. Wood needs a different type of polish than metal. If your knife has leather on the handle, you may also consider replacing it.

3. Remove Rust

Even the best loved knives can experience rust. Removing that rust will do wonders for improving the appearance of your knives. Treating the blades and keeping them properly stored will prevent future rust.

4. Replace Broken or Missing Parts

Fixing a broken lock mechanism or other damaged part will both improve your knife’s functionality and look.
